SAMHSA's FASD Center for Excellence convened the fifth Building State Systems meeting in Colorado Springs, CO, in May 2008. Forty-seven States were represented, as well as the District of Columbia, the Navajo Nation, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. The 161 attendees sought to advance the goal of building State capacity to address FASD. Participants included FASD State Coordinators, treatment and public health professionals, Federal officials, and individuals and family members who have been impacted by FASD.
