Competency 2: Identification of FASD and Diagnosis of FAS
FAS Diagnostic Criteria
An FAS diagnosis has four components:
- Facial anomalies
- Growth deficiencies
- Central nervous system defects
- Maternal alcohol use during pregnancy
If the other three criteria are met, a diagnosis of FAS can be made without confirming maternal alcohol use.
